Whole plants of Narcissus pallidiflorus collected at Alava (Spain) were found to contain a new heterodimer amaryllidaceous alkaloid, pallidiflorine. Its structure was elucidated mainly by NMR spectroscopy using 1H-1H (COSY) and 1H-13C two-dimensional experiments. The known alkaloids 5,6-dihydrobicolorine, haemanthamine, homolycorine, 8-O-demethylhomolycorine and pretazettine were also isolated from the same plant. © 1990.
