Abstract

Data were obtained from GC-mass spectral analyses which provided strong evidence for the presence of 4 chlorotryptophane in extracts from young seeds of Viciafaba. This serves as a precursor molecule in the biosynthesis of 4chloro-indole-3-acetic acid (4-Cl-IAA). Additionally 4-Cl-IAA and its methyl ester have been detected.
