Abstract

The major antibiotic constituent, xanthobaccin A, was isolated from broth cultures of Stenotrophomonas sp. strain SB-K88 as a major antifungal substance. The structure elucidation by spectroscopic analyses and chemical conversion revealed it to be a new tetramic acid-containing macrocyclic lactam.
