A re-examination of the sapogenins from Pittosporum phillyraeoides leaves revealed the presence of two new natural products 27-desoxyphillyrigenin (3fl-hydroxytaraxastan-28,20fl-olide) and 23-hydroxyphillyrigenin (3fl,23,27 trihydroxytaraxastan-28,20fl-olide) together with dihydropriverogenin A, 16-desoxybarringtogenol C, barringtogenol C and the previously reported constituents phillyrigenin and Ra-barrigenol. Spectral evidence is presented to establish the structure of phillyrigenin as 3fl,27-dihydroxytaraxastan-28,20fl-olide.
