Abstract

Staudine, a new alkaloid, was isolated from Pachypodanthium stauditi bark and its structure was determined by chemical and spectroscopical methods as well as X-ray analysis. It is built from jatrorrhizine, a protoberberine alkaloid, and a 2.4.5-trimethoxystyrene unit.
