Abstract

A new bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloid has been isolated from the stems of Stephania hernandifolia and its structure established as (+)-3′,4′-dihydrostephasubine. This is accompanied by the known alkaloid (+)-stephasubine (+)-Epistephanine has been found in the roots of the plant. © 1988.
