Isolation, Characterization and Chemoenzymatic Sythesis Of 9-Methoxy-20-(s)-Mappicine, A New Constituent of Nothapodytes Foetida

Abstract

Chemical investigation on the stems of Nothapodytes foetida has resulted in the isolation of 9-methoxy-20-(S)-mappicine, a new minor constituent along with seven other known alkaloids. The structure of the new compound was established from spectral and chemical evidences. An efficient chemoenzymatic synthesis of the compound starting from 9-methoxycamptothecin, a known constituent of the plant, has been achieved.
