The indole alkaloids akuammicine, akuammicine-Na-oxide, akuammicine-Namethiodide, q-akuammicirte, Nb-demethyl-ecbitamine and tubotaiwine were isolated from the roots of Alstonia scholaris together with echitamine, the principal alkaloid, and some echitamidine isomers. Na-demethylechitamine, tubotaiwine and picrinine were found in the stems associated with echitamine and some echitamidine isomers.
