A Colombian member of the Annonaceae, Duguetia spixiana, yielded 18 alkaloids, 8 of which are new: codamine N-oxide, a benzylisoquinoline; spiduxine, a retroprotoberberine; norpachyconfine, pachyconfine N-oxide, spixianine, spixianine N-oxide, duguexine and duguexine N-oxide, all representative of the 7-hydroxyaporphines; and duguespixine, a 7-methyldehydroaporphine. The alkaloid content is characterized by the large number and high concentration of N-oxides and oxidized products.
