Abstract

Together with known alkaloids, five new bisbenzylisoquinoline derivatives were isolated from the stem bark of Guatteria boliviana (Annonaceae), puertogalines-A 1 and -B 2, (+)-guatteboline 3, philogaline 4 and (-)-antioquine 5. Their structures were elucidated by spectrometric methods and their antiparasitic activity was evaluated in vitro on Leishmania sp., Trypanosoma cruzi and Plasmodium falciparum. Their cytotoxic activity was also measured in KB cell line. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
