Three new pregnane alkaloids, pactermines A - C (1 - 3), were obtained from the whole plant of Pachysandra terminalis. The structures of these alkaloids were elucidated by comprehensive spectroscopic methods including 1D, 2D NMR, MS and IR data analysis. Pactermines A and B showed moderate bromodomain-containing protein 4 (BRD4) inhibitory activities with IC50 values of 10.1 and 19.4 mu M. In addition, pactermines A and B exhibited cytotoxic activities against three tumor cell lines with IC50 values ranging from 5.3-57.4 mu M.
