Eight alkaloids have been isolated from bark of Uvariopsis guineensis Keay. Five of them are derivatives of aminoethylphenanthrene or 'open aporphines': uvariopsin has been found in U. solheidii; the other four, 8-methoxyuvariopsin, uvariopsamin, noruvariopsamin, N-oxyuvariopsamin, are new compounds and their structure has been determined, the last three being oxoaporphines. Liriodenin has also been identified along with a methoxy and a dimethoxy derivative, probably the 9 and 8,9 respectively. © 1972.
