A new dimeric indole alkaloid was isolated from the stem bark of Pleiocarpa mutica Benth. Mass spectra of the dimeric alkaloid and its cleavage products revealed it to be an eburnamylpleiocarpinine. The positions of attachment of the two monomeric units were deduced from nmr spectra. The proposed structure X was confirmed by partial synthesis. © 1966, American Chemical Society.
