Abstract

The alkaloid content of two species of Dutaillyea (Rutaceae) was investigated. Four alkaloids were isolated from the leaves of Dutaillyea oreophila. kokusaginine (1), N,N-dimethvl 5-methoxy tryptamin (2), 2-methyl 6-methoxy l, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydro-β carboline (3) and hordenine (4), whereas dictamnine (5), pteleine (6), evolitrine (7) and kokusaginine (1) were isolated from its stem barks. One alkaloid, N, N-dimethyl 5-methoxy tryptamin (2), was isolated from Dutaillyea drupácea leaves, the stem barks of which yielded six other alkaloids: dictamnine (5), pteleine (6), evolitrine (7), kokusaginine (1), (-)-edulinine (8) and a novel compound: dutadrupine (10). This last alkaloid is a methoxydimethyl-pyranofuroquinoline, whose structure has been established on the basis of its spectral data (mainly nmr) compared with those of its isomeric 4-quinolone, isodutadrupine (11). © 1981, American Chemical Society.
