Abstract

From the bark of Evodia alata F. Muell. the known alkaloids, evoxanthine, melicopidine, and kokusaginine have been isolated. The leaves contain evoxanthine and two new alkaloids. These are 2,3,4-trimethoxy-10-methylacridone (I, R=CH3) and a furoquinoline a kaloid, evolatine. Evolatine is shown by degradation to be 7-(2',3'-dihydroxy-3'-methylbutoxy)-6-methoxydictamnine (V). © 1955, CSIRO. All rights reserved.
