Abstract

The bulbs of Lycoris sanguinea Maxim, Var.Kiushiana Makino (Amaryllidaceae) were found to contain a new phenolic alkaloid, sanguinine (I), as well as lycorine (II) and galanthamine (III), Sanguinine (I), C16H19OflN, was established to be O-demethyl-galanthamine.
