A novel alkaloid incartine (1), a supposed biosynthetic intermediate from galanthine (2) to narcissidine (3), was isolated from flowers of Lycoris incarnata (Amaryllidaceae) together with the known alkaloids galanthine (2), ungiminorine (4), ungiminorine (5), galanthamide (6), galanthamine (7), lycoramine (8), sanguinine (9), lycorine (10), and O-demethyllycoramine (11).
