An efficient, practical, and eco-friendly method of preparation of 9-chloro-6,13-dihydro-7-phenyl-5H-indolo[3,2-c]-acridines (3a–c) is reported by Friedlander condensation of 2-amino-5-chlorobenzophenone 1 and active methylene compound 3,4-dihydro-2H-carbazol-1(9H)-ones (2a–c) in the presence of SnO2 nanoparticles under microwave irradiation. Indoloacridines, 3a–c, were screened for their in vitro hemolytic activity, on human erythrocytes and cytotoxicity, on HeLa and Vero cells.
