Synthesis of tetracyclic aza-/oxa-naphthalen-8-ones and their antimicrobial activity

Abstract

Tetracyclic azanaphthalen-8-ones are synthesized by condensing 3-bromo-4-methyl benzo[h]-chromen-2-one with different primary aromatic amines. 3-Bromo-4-methylbenzo[h]chromen-2-one is synthesized by bromination of 4-methylbenzo[h]chromen-2-one usingN-bromosuccinimide. Condensation of 3-bromo-4-methylbenzo[h]chromen-2-one with different secondary cyclic amines gave tetracyclic oxanaphthalen-9-one. All the synthesized compounds were screened for their antimicrobial activity and they show good results.
