Abstract

Five new acetylenic carotenoids, (3S,4S,YS,5'R)-4-hydroxy-mytiloxanthin (1), (3S,4S,3'S,4'S)- 4,4'-dihydroxy-diatoxanthin (2), (3S,4S,YS,4'S)-4,4'-dihydroxy-alloxanthin (3), (3S,3'S,4'S)-4-keto-4' hydroxy-diatoxanthin (4) and (3S,YS,4'S)-4-keto-4'-hydroxy-alloxanthin (5) were isolated from the two species of starfishes, Asterina pectinifera and Asterias amurensis.
