Unusual metabolites of Baeckea frutescens

Abstract

An unusual endoperoxide with a C13 skeleton has been isolated from the aerial parts of Baeckeafrutescens. The extract also afforded a closely related C13 compound linked to a flavanone nucleus, as a mixture of isomers, and an alcohol with C12 skeleton (possibly a degradation product of the C13 endoperoxide). The structure of all compounds were determined by two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy.
