Two novel compounds\ the lignan\ "¦#!1!"2\3!dimethoxyphenyl#!5!"2\3!dihydroxyphenyl#!2\6!dioxabicycloð2\2\9Łoctane\ and the coumarin\ "¦#!6!"2!methyl!3!carboxybutanoxy#umbelliferone methyl ester\ have been isolated from the aerial parts of Melicope hayesii[ The known compounds\ eudesmin\ kobusin\ N!p!coumaroyltyramine\ N!methyl!1!pyrrolidinone\ umbelliferone and 6!"2! methylbut!1!enoxy#umbelliferone were also obtained[ Their structures were determined by extensive NMR studies[
