Abstract

The aerial parts of Baeckea frutescens yielded three new chromones (5-hydroxy-7-methoxy-2 isopropyl, 5-hydroxyl-7-methoxy-2-isopropyl-8-methyl and 5-hydroxy-7-methoxy-2-iso-propyl-6-methyl) and five new chromanones (2,5-dihydroxy-7-methoxy-2-isopropyl, 2,5-dihydroxy-7-methoxy-2-isopropyl-8-methyl, 2,5 dihydroxy-7-methoxy-2-isopropyl-6-methyl, 2,5-dihydroxy-7-methoxy-2,8-dimethyl and 2,5-dihydroxy-7-methoxy-2,6-dimethyl). Their structures were deduced from two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy and from comparison of NMR spectra with known chromones, also present in the extract.
