Kopsia oficinalis Tsiang et P. T. Li is a folk medicine used in Xishuangbanna District, Province Yunnan for the treatment of leprosy, pharyngitis and edema. The total alkaloid extracted from the root and stem showed analgesic activity. Ten indole alkaloids have been isolated by the authors from this species. Four of them are known as kopsinine (1), kopsamine (2), eburnamine (3), and perivine (4); the other three are new ones, being established as 20-oxo-eburnamenine (5), 20-hydroxy-eburnamine (6), and 20-oxo-eburnamine (7). The remaining three are shown by high resolution MS to possess the molecular formula C₁₉H₂₄N₂O₂ (8), C₂₀H₂₆N₂O₂ (9); and C₁₉H₂₂N₂O₂ (10), respectively. Further work on their structure elucidation is still in progress.
