Examination of the aerial parts of Eriostemon cymbijimis led to the isolation of two novel coumarin glycosides, isobaisseoside {esculetin-7-(6-a-rhamnopyranosyl)-β-glucopyranoside] {I} and isobaisseoside-4'-p-coumarate [21, along with the common flavonoid glycoside hesperidin from the methanolic extract, and the dihydrocinnamic acid derivative eriostemoic acid from the n-hexane extract. The methanolic extract of the aerial parts ofEriostemon wonganensis also produced 1, while the petroleum ether extract of the same yielded two other dihydrocinnamic acid derivatives, eriostoic acid and the novel methyl ester of eriostemoic acid {3}. The chemotaxonomic implications of these compound identifications are discussed.
