Previously the only alkaloids isolated from have been those related to tylocrebrine (1). We now report the isolation from Ficus uantoniana King of the first known flavonoidal alkaloids. The major base, ficine, CzoH,904N, m.p. 2X0, is accompanied in small amounts by an isomer, isoficine, m.p. 168', for which chemical and spectral evidence is consistent only vith structures (I) and (II) respectively.
