In a continuation of phytochemical studies on Algerian Saharan plants particularly of Scrophulariaceae family, the aerial parts of L. aegyptiaca (L.) Dum. subsp. fruticosa were investigated. Three iridoids and a flavonoid were isolated from the methanol extract and identified as antirrhinoside (1), linarioside (2), mussaenosidic acid (3) and ladanein (4). Iridoids and their glycoside derivatives are chemotaxonomic markers of the family Scrophulariaceae, to which the genus Linaria belongs. Ladanein was identified for the first time in the Scrophulariaceae family, and mussaenosidic acid was described for the first time in the Linaria genus.
