Two new pyrrolizidine alkaloids, O-7-3-hydroxy-3-methylbutanoyl-O-9-(-)-hydroxyviridifloryl retronecine and its acetyl derivative were isolated from Lithospermum officinale and their structures elucidated by spectroscopical methods. The names lithosenine and acetyllithosenine are proposed.
