New Purine Alkaloid from Gleditsia triacanthos and Its Effect on the CNS

Abstract

The new purine derivative ethyl [3-(3-methylbut-2-enyl)-3H-purin-6-yl]carbamate, which exhibited psychostimulant and anticonvulsant activity, and triacanthine were isolated from leaves of Gleditsia triacanthos L. The structure of the new alkaloid was established by NMR spectroscopy and an X-ray crystal structure analysis.
