A new naturally occurring indole alkaloid, 10-methoxyconolidine (1), together with seven known alkaloids (2-8), were isolated from the stems and leaves of Ochrosia elliptica. Among them, 10-methoxyconolidine (1) is a rare C5-nor stemmadenine type alkaloid, and the known compounds (2-8) possess diverse carbon skeletons. These structures were established on the basis of extensive spectroscopic methods. All isolated compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxicities and anti-inflammatory activities in vitro. New compound 1 showed no cytotoxicity while exhibited significant inhibitory activity on nitric oxide (NO) production induced by lipopolysaccharide in mouse macrophage RAW 264.7 cells in vitro with the IC50 value at 2.8 μM. © 2017 The Japan Institute of Heterocyclic Chemistry.
