Secoiridoid glucosides from ripe fruits of Ligustrum vulgare L. treated with 5% H2SO4 and NH3 could be converted easily in pyridine derivatives. Recently LA 9, a novel glucosidic alkaloid artifact has been isolated. Its structure [1] has been established, primarily on the basis of IR‐, NMR‐ and mass spectral data.
