Androcymbium palaestinum of Jordanian origin has yielded the new alkaloid ( —)-androbiphenyline [1], which inCDCl3 solution exists as conformers la and lb. Two previously known and related alkaloids are K-3 [3} and K-4 [4] obtained from a Colchicum species. ( —)-Androbiphenyline {1}, K-3 [3], and K-4 [4} are the only known representatives of the dibenzocycloheptylamine class of alkaloids. © 1989, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
