Two new triterpenoidal alkaloids, (+)-N(a),N(b)-dimethylbuxupapine (1) {(20S)-3β-dimethylamino-20-dimethylamino-9,10-seco-buxa-9(11),1(10)-diene}, and (+)-16α-hydroxypapillamidine (2) {(20S)-16α-hydroxy-3β-methyl-acetylamin-20-methylamino-9,10-seco-buxa -9(11),10(19)-diene} were isolated from the methanolic extract of the leaves of Buxus papillosa. The structures of these compounds were elucidated with the help of extensive spectroscopic studies. The structure of compound 1 was further confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction technique.
