From dried leaves of Buxus sempervirens L. ten alkaloids could be isolated and characterized. Two of these proved to be identical with the known buxus alkaloids ‘A’ (cyclobuxine) and ‘L’. Three of the new alkaloids, buxamine C26H42N2, nor‐bux‐ amine C26H44N2, and buxaminol C26H44ON2 could be correlated. They each contain a methylated amino group, two conjugated double bonds and four tertiary C‐methyl groups on a tetracyclic carbon ring system which includes a five‐membered carbo‐ cyclic ring with an 1‐amino‐ethyl side chain. In buxaminol this ring bears a secondary hydroxyl group vicinal to the side chain. Copyright © 1964 Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim
