Further investigation of the active principles of Zygadenus venenosus has led to the isolation of the hypotensive germine esters neogermitrine, germidine, protoveratridine and a new diester isomeric with gertnidine, for which we have proposed the name neogermidine. Neogermidine, like germidine, is a monoacetate mono-(l)-±-methylbutyrate of the alkamine germine. Upon acetylation with acetic anhydride and pyridine, neogermidine is converted to monoacetylneogermitrine. © 1954, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
