Alkaloids including pseudojervine, rubijervine, and alkamine-x were isolated from Veratrum lobelianum Bernh. growing in Georgia, and some of these alkaloids exhibited specific pharmacological activities. Continuing the separation of the total alkaloids from the epigeal part of Aconitum karakolicum Rapaics. (collected in the valley of the R. Irisu, Kirghiz SSR, during the budding period), besides known alkaloids such as karacoline, acetylnapelline, napelline, songorine, phenyl-β-naphthylamine, and napelline N-oxide, delsoline, monticoline, neoline, and two new alkaloids (karasamine and 1-benzoylkarasamine) were obtained. Karasamine (C₂₄H₃₉NO₅) was identified as the C₁₄-monomethyl ether of karakoline through methylation reaction and spectral analysis (IR, NMR, mass spectrometry). 1-Benzoylkarasamine (C₃₁H₃₅NO₅), a derivative of karasamine with a benzoyl group at C-1, was confirmed by alkaline hydrolysis and spectral data, representing the first lycoctonine-type alkaloid with an ester substituent at the C-1 position.
