SCHUMM) LAUTERB. (New Guinea) were isolated apart from the known Rutaceae alkaloids hydroxylunidine (I), hydroxylunacridine (II), lunacrine (111) and lunacridine (IV) two new crystalline alkaloids. One of these differs from I only by the absence of the tertiary hydroxyl group in the side‐chain and was therefore named lunidine (V). The other one (VIII) is a ketone also obtained by oxidation of the hydroxyl group of lunidine. We therefore named it lunidonine.
