Abstract

From the bark of Lunasia arnara BLANCO var. refmnda (LAUTERB. et K. SCHUMM) LAUTERB. (New Guinea) were isolated apart from the known Rutaceae alkaloids hydroxylunidine (I), hydroxylunacridine (II), lunacrine (111) and lunacridine (IV) two new crystalline alkaloids. One of these differs from I only by the absence of the tertiary hydroxyl group in the side‐chain and was therefore named lunidine (V). The other one (VIII) is a ketone also obtained by oxidation of the hydroxyl group of lunidine. We therefore named it lunidonine. Copyright © 1963 Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim
